Angeline “Babe” (Palmer) Komatz, 93, of Peoria, passed away at 5 a.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Mardell Manor in Pekin. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria. Following the visitation, cremation rites will be accorded, with inurnment at The Chapel of Peace Columbarium at Parkview Cemetery in Peoria. Babe was born on April 24, 1919 in Groveland, a daughter of Dominic and Rubina (Gentile) Palmer. She married Joseph Komatz on July 9, 1942 in Alexandria, LA. He preceded her in death on June 17, 1995 in Peoria. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Tillie Bennett and Anita “Bibe” Koch; and niece, Lori Palanza. She is survived by her sister, Ruby “Boots” White of Peoria; brothers, Joe Palmer of Titusville, FL and Bruno (Marty) Palmer of Peoria; nieces, Donna (Terry) Rupp, Cherrie (Mark) Blackwell, LuAnn (Michael) Clark, Michelle (Tom) Green and Kim (Scott) May; nephews, Donald (Betty) Koch, Robert (Claudia) Bennett, Joe Palmer, Randy (Joan) White and Greg (Dawn) White; and several great nieces and nephews. Babe was a graduate of Peoria’s Manuel High School and was a waitress for The Palmer House and Shady Oaks, both in Peoria. Memorial contributions may be made in Babe’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association – Central Illinois Chapter.
